Artist/Designer: A Journey of a Artisan/Craftsman
The path to being an artist was started with Michael studying at the Pennsylvania School of Art & Design where he acquired his degree. While working with one of his mentors at a contemporary fine craft gallery, Michael was fine tuning what he wanted to do with his expression of creativity.
With his fascination with the medieval and Renaissance period, Michael visited a Renaissance Faire for the first time and was overwhelmed. After taking in all that the faire had to offer, Michael sat down and enjoyed a storyteller regaling stories of a farmer turned craftsmen. He told of how he used twisted metal and symbolism to create enchanted adornment which caught the attention of royalty.
Michael continued his studies with learning metal concepts and metal working at Tyler University while still teaching himself through extensive research of old world craftsmen skills and period traditions. Michael has been acknowledged for his skills and talent by being in both group and solo exhibits, selected by galleries that represent handmade fine crafts, being a semi finalist in a Philadelphia Designer Showcase and by being reviewed and juried by the PA State Guild of Craftsmen. Michael also has been a teacher of art wearables and silversmithing for over five years.
